Article 370 was a cruelty done on Kashmiris. It gave Kashmiris a separate identity from other Indian citizens.
Due to Article 370, every Kashmiri was a citizen (permanent resident) of Jammu & Kashmir. Whereas, in all other Indian states (like Punjab) every individual was is an Indian citizen and a domicile of that state (i.e. an Indian citizen & a domicile of Punjab).
This cruelty continued on 3 generations of Kashmiris (for 75 years). Unfortunately, for 3 generations we called Kashmiris as permanent residents and not Indian citizens.
Thus, Article 370 was a ticking time-bomb. No democracy can survive where citizens are given separate identities. Sooner or later, the separate identity will create politics of separation and even insurgency (as it did in Kashmir).
Due to removal of Article 370 Kashmiris are now called Indian citizens with domicile of Jammu & Kashmir . This has brought the identity of Kashmiris equivalent to every other Indian citizen.
This is a solution to the Kashmir problem, but it is a very painful solution. The identity of Kashmiris has been changed after 3 generations. This is causing a lot of anger among Kashmiris.
This is a very natural reaction by Kashmiris. The solution to this problem will come in a very long time when generation after generation, Kashmiris will be called Indian citizens. Very slowly Kashmiris will start thinking of themselves as Indian citizens. In 3 generations (75 years) the Kashmiri identity will be completely replaced by the Indian identity. Thus, it will take 3 generations (75 years) to reverse the effects of past mistake.
Lets us be patient and wait for 3 generations (75 years) for Kashmir to stabilize.
